Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

August 3, 2010 Leave a comment

Humans are the only animal that blushes, laughs, has religion, wages war, and kisses with lips.  So in a way, the more you kiss with lips, the more human you are.

I am only half way through this book, but can already tell it is going to be one of my all time favorites. The storytelling is beautifully conveyed through words, photographs, drawings and even blank pages. It is really impressive in how well it ties the story together, and is an integral part in what makes this book so great.

I wish my commute to work was an extra hour each day just so I could read more of this book.

Working Hard

This is my office at work. Pretty typical. Pop bottles, pop cans, beer caps, sunglasses and my lab coat I made work get me hanging in the corner.

YO!

June 25, 2010 Leave a comment

I got this wacky gizmo from work. I still don’t know what I am supposed to do with it though. So far I have about 10 Archie comics and a digital piano on it. In two weeks it hasn’t done anything remotely job related.

Also, I am addicted to chicken empanadas from Chez Jose. I have had five in the last three days. My stomach is a garbage can.

Three day weekend, NBD.

Oh, and here is a song I have been jamming out to lately. Makes me stoked on the summer and all of the amazing things it involves. Life is pretty cool these days.

Summer time.

June 10, 2010 Leave a comment

It’s been a while.

Work has been crazy, and freelancing on top of that has been nuts as well. I barely have time to sleep, let alone blog about my lack of sleep.

Anyways, life’s really good these days, and I just wanted to write a quick something here to let everyone know that I am still alive and well.

I will leave you with this –

Spaghetti Tuesday.

April 27, 2010 2 comments

I basically do the same thing everyday. I wake up in the morning at about 730, go to work, come home at around 645, make food, start working on freelance work, start eating my food once it’s room temperature, stop freelancing, finally finish my 5 hour old food, hit Ninja Video, then fall asleep. This is basically my life (minus the weekend where I just sorta hang out on my couch from Friday to Sunday drinking wine), but to make things even more ritualized I make spaghetti every Tuesday. It started when the new Kids in the Hall came on, and I have basically kept it going since then.  Here are some shitty photobooth photos of me having a wild night –

The below picture looks super gross, but trust me, it tasted awesome. It sucked when half of it fell on the floor trying to take this photo with my computer.

Oh, and here I am celebrating.

I lead such a normal and boring life these days that sometimes it even surpises me. Screw it, i’m going to Tour Mode to get yelled at by Trev.

My second favorite Kurt

April 19, 2010 Leave a comment

I’ve been reading a lot lately because of the two two hours a day I am now commuting to work. Most people generally hate having a commute to work, but I think it is my favorite part of the day. I have an hour to get my brain together, and get to spend some quality time with a book. I think since I started my new job I’ve read 15 or so books, ranging from ficton, to biography’s to poetry and theory. I will pretty much read anything put in front of me.

Lately I have really gotten into Vonnegut, and have read the above three books in the last couple of weeks. I think my favorite would be Blue Beard, with Player Piano coming in a close second (I hated it when I first started reading it, gave it a break, and now I love it). I don’t know what it is about him, but his style of reading is just so easy to follow. His words just flow off the page and cast these visuals that make you never want the book to stop. I generally get a sad feeling everytime I have finished one of his novels, but at least I know that it is now time for a new one.

I hope to read everything he put out within the next year, and I look forward to getting on to the next one.

Oh, and on another note, I was at the following show 2 years ago to the day. That weekend was better then most.

Tuesday Night Haircuts (sung to the tune of Monday Morning Airport)

April 14, 2010 Leave a comment

My last two haircuts have been given to me at 3am, after the bar, by a drunk person. Both times the haircuts have turned out brilliantly.

I also chopped off the scraggly beard as soon as the cut was done, to ensure full handsomeness. I only realized today once I arrived at work that I pretty much forgot to shave half my neck.

Although I was ecstatic with my new dew, the haircutter definitely wasn’t down when I offered to return the favor. I think that was a wise choice.

Jesus Christ

I think Bink’s and I used to build sandwiches just like the one below in high school. We also used to smoke for a couple hours at a time, skateboard in the halls, sleep in the senior locker back, disrupt classes we weren’t taking, play this game we invented that involved whipping balls of tape at people, and generally not doing any sort of school work. I think during our last year we only had one class each, shared a locker but didn’t have a lock on it, would show up hungover most days and generally just cause trouble all the time. We both eventually quit high school, but for some reason I ended up having thirty credits and only found out when I showed up for the grad to route on my non dropout friends. We both decided to quit while on a class trip to Mexico. I guess we got a taste of ‘real life’. Oh, and when we went to our senior prom both of our dates picked up dudes and ended up sleeping in there hotel rooms. Me and binks spent the night drinking REVS and playing ‘slap towel’.

A week later we worked in factories.

I’m gonna start a weekly feature where I write a story about shit Bink’s and I used to get up to. It’s going to be epic.

Friends

April 8, 2010 Leave a comment

Where did these guys go?

Gordie and Shawn are in Ontario for the weekend. So with those two gone, and my football playing friends nowhere to be found, I have no one to hang out with.

On that note, I hope Rescue Me comes back soon. I miss Monday nights with my pals.

This is my song for the summer. I just wanna hang on the beach, chill, pick up chicks, hang with a young black boy and look like a really tanned Beast from Beauty and the Beast.

Been listening to this song a lot. I’m in a weird zone right now, where so many things are going right and life is better then it’s been since Toronto, but something still feels off. Wish I could change it.

These hats are ridiculously amazing. I will own all of them one day. For now I am settling for the Kings. I really wanted the Magic one, but it was out of stock.

Check out Hall of Fame here.

I am loving these guys. They are from Toronto, and playing Montreal in April. I am gonna wear tons of makeup at the show.

Man, I wish I could have gone to SXSW. It’s like Hallowe’en everyday for these dudes.
