Here is a poster I designed and illustrated for a night some friends of mine are putting together. It actually starts tomorrow at Blue Dog, here in MTL. Hopefully some of you Montreal’ers will come out and support. It’s gonna be a wicked night of Motown and cheap drinks.

The Country.

I was in the country today. I haven’t been outside of Montreal since I moved here, so it was pretty nice to get deeper into Quebec and see what it’s all about. We went to this little town called Magog to drop Zoe’s sister Emma off at camp. It was a pretty awesome little place. It reminded me of the little town in ‘No Country for Old Men’. Buildings that all look the same, locals who know everyone, and little boutique stores and restaurants all mashed into one block.

It’s the type of atmosphere I would love to live one day when I am over this whole big city thing. Sitting on a patio and just loven’ life.

The weather was pretty crappy today, which sucked because I even brought my swim shorts (anyone who knows me knows this is a huge deal). But it all ended up fun. Zoe’s mom bought us all lunch which was super nice of her, and it was good to spend the day with two of my favorite people.

All in all it was a great afternoon, and pretty much anything to get me out of this apartment I will take advantage of these days.

I really gotta get a digital camera (already have an amazing 35) so I can start photoing this stuff. The mac photobooth just isnt cutting it these days.

Brian Jonestown Massacre

I finally got around to watching the Documentary ‘DIG’ last night. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, it’s about the musicians in the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the relationship they had with other up and coming band at the time, The Dandy Warhols. It touches on several things, like the eventual falling out the two bands had, the opposite paths both groups inevitably go on, and then the complete meltdown of BJM founder Anton Newcombe.

I was never really into the Brian Jonestown Massacre before, but after viewing the doc I have no idea why. They are beyond there time, but with that said, sound like they should have been playing music thirty years ago.

Anyways, check out the myspace, it is worth it.

The internet is messed up in my apartment, so a friend who lives a couple floors down from me let me use her wireless. But since she is kinda far away the connection only works in certain parts of my place. It definitely doesn’t work in my office, the couch, or my bed – the three main spots I would use my computer. Nope, the main place it works is right in front of my door. Actually, this is the only place I can get a consistent signal where i’m not flipping out every 30 seconds because I keep going off line.

A taste of things to come.

Saturday was the first real day since I have been here where I said to myself,’Man, Toronto has nothing on this city’. The weather was amazing, the streets were packed, the patios we’re full and the parks were the number one destination for beer, hang outs, guitars, dogs and smokes.

I left the house as soon as I woke up and took full advantage of the gorgeous day. A coffee on St Denis, a few patio margaritas, some tall Groulschs in the park, some Indian food and sangria at Gordie and Zy’s, and than a couple ceasars in the smoking room of Miami. Oh, and not to mention the poutines we ate when we got home.

All in all it was a great weekend, and I hope to have more of them very, very soon. I am really, really stoked on being here.

My cousin rolled into town…

My cousin (top left photo) rolled into town this weekend. He was here with three of his buddies for the Leafs / Habs game. I just got this email from him :

i got kicked out of that hotel at 3am, so i went back to your place and got kicked out of the hall way, and than my phone died, and then a cabbie through a water bottle at me so i walked over and than he flicked a cigarette but in my face, i than returned to the hotel and went to sleep on top off my car, and than the cops showed up and escorted me out, so than i went to sleep at the second cup

St Weirdo’s Day

I can’t find anything ‘Irish’ to wear tonight, so I figured I would head to the blog and have the readers help me pick something out. Here’s what I found around my house, which were the closest thing to being Irish as I could put together. Tonight is going to be a disaster.

Style Rookie.

Style Rookie has got to be one of the weirdest sites I have ever been too. Why in the world does a twelve year old girl have an insanely popular fashion blog? Most of the people I surround myself with are 25-30 years old, and none of us come close to being as cool as this chick.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it seems like this girl actually knows what she is talking about. But, why does a twelve year old girl know about this stuff anyways? Shouldn’t a twelve year old be spending there time laughing at farts (come to think of it, 26 year olds still do this), play with lego, picking there nose and realizing that they are about to embark on a really awkward 6 year journey through puberty.

I dunno, I guess I just don’t get the ‘young’ generation anymore. Maybe I should start drinking fancy coffees and wearing neon.

SNAKEPUNCH show!

Easily one of the best nights I have ever been a part of. Everything turned out super amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better night. Everyones work went over super well, Cocaine Car got a great reception, and as far as I could see everyone who was there had themselves a great time.

Again, thanks to everyone who made this night what it was, and be on the lookout for the next Snakepunch event coming up in the new year. It’s going to be hard to top, but I am definately going to try.

Everyone and there mother is either blogging or DJing these days. Well, I figured I would take it a step further and jump head first into both.

My next DJ set is gonna be crazy. Instead of playing any music I am just going to blog about what I would be playing, and how crazy it would be.
